Blue Morning
I awoke Saturday morning to the most beautiful blue day! I have a tendency to wake up early when I can see the sun shining outside but this morning I must have been extra tired from the long bus trip because I didn’t stir until my Mom came up to the sleeping loft and told me that she had been out picking blueberries for the last half hour in order to get us a decent amount for our breakfast!

She brought me outside to show me what she was able to get. I was impressed since blueberry season is basically over and the pickings were quite slim!

The colors of the blueberry field had changed from bright green to a fiery red indicating the change of seasons.

There is nothing like wild Maine blueberries on your morning yogurt. Except when homemade maple granola is added to the top!

This breakfast is representative of what I ate for the next two days: Stonyfield yogurt, blueberries, and granola. On the side my Mom had brought some Lemongrass Tea for us to enjoy together which was a lovely flavor. I was thankful that my Mom was the one picking because I don’t consider myself much of a picker even when the berries are plentiful. She really had to work to get us the 1/2 cup that we had. She didn’t mind though; she considers berry picking extremely satisfying and enjoyable. Perhaps this is because she has Swedish roots and in Sweden berry picking is the #1 past time!
