Boston Blogger Brunch!

Since my lunch today wasn’t all that exciting (a can of Amy’s Lentil Soup) I decided it was a good opportunity to share the delicious Dim Sum brunch from yesterday. Meghan (from Travel Eat Love) contacted me a few weeks ago to invite me to a Boston Blogger Meet-Up and I have to say I was really excited for the chance to meet other food bloggers in the area.  I coordinated to walk over with Meg from Back Bay Station to Washington Street in the South End. We remarked on how the South End is one of those “un-chartered” areas of Boston for both of us. It was definitely fun to explore a bit together and makes me realize how much of this city there is that I haven’t seen! Once we arrived at Myers+Chang we were quickly seated since we had a reservation and I got to meet the other bloggers. There were six of us in all which was a perfect number in my opinion. I met Kelly from She Wears a Red Sox Cap, Kirsten of Tales from Two Cities and Gina from Simply Life.

I was so glad that Meghan was there to make recommendations since it was hard to choose dishes with all of these amazing looking choices. We ordered I think a total of 12 dishes and they came out family style so that we could all sample everything. This was the perfect type of “foodie” meal in my opinion since we all were interested in everything ordered and sampling was a must. The atmosphere at Myers+Chang was very laid back which was cool too because there were 6 cameras going nuts!

Since there were a lot of dishes ordered I am going to highlight my top picks. I think I tried everything we ordered but I might not have pictured it all. Here are the standouts in my opinion (in no particular order).

Asian Pickles

I couldn’t get enough of the cauliflower and the carrot mixture. I love anything pickled as you may already know!

Sweet Potato Fritters with Sriracha Aioli

These little beauties were to-die-for. Deliciously crisp with a creamy potato center and a hint of spice in the sauce. Yum.

5 Spice Tofu and Garlic Chives

What an interesting way to serve chives. I was wondering if the greens were in fact chives the whole time because I didn’t remember reading the description when we ordered it. The tofu was thinly sliced and seared to perfection.

Shitake Mushroom Dumplings

Dumplings. I don’t think I need to say anymore about these, you can let your brain run wild with how good they were.

Thai Ginger Chicken with Rice Vermicelli

How cute is the serving dish?

Green Papaya Slaw

This was sooo good. I could have eaten the whole little bowl but I was nice and shared.

I also had some of the Spicy Kimchee Pancakes and Dan Dan Noodles with Spicy Peanut Sauce. How fun it was to be out with 5 lovely foodies who were all interested in trying as many dishes as possible! We all got to know each other through conversation and I have to say that I would love to meet up again and possibly bring some more Boston Food Bloggers (or readers!) into the mix. For dessert they served us Coconut Meringues which were perfectly mini so I had 2!

Myers+Chang gets my high praise for good service, great food, friendly atmosphere and a hip design. It was also quite affordable! I already told Darin that we HAVE to go back so I think another brunch outing is in the works. ;)
